Why Germany
Germany has one of the largest and most stable healthcare systems in the world — and one of its most acute nursing shortages. With an ageing population and insufficient domestic supply of qualified nurses, German hospitals and care facilities are actively recruiting internationally, offering permanent contracts, structured career progression, and a clear pathway to long-term residency. Unlike Gulf destinations, Germany is not tax-free. But what it offers instead is security — permanent employment, full social benefits, pension contributions, 30 days annual leave, and a healthcare system that invests in its workforce.
Base salary only. After income tax and social contributions, take-home pay is typically €2,100–2,300/month at entry level. Employer package includes health insurance contributions, pension, and 30 days paid leave.
The language requirement
German language proficiency is non-negotiable. Prodesse's clients will interview candidates from a minimum of A2 level, but full registration (Approbation) requires B2. Candidates who deploy under the Berufserlaubnis pathway are expected to reach B2 within 18–24 months. Many employers fund language training as part of the employment package. If you are not yet at A2, we recommend beginning a structured German language course before applying.
Two deployment pathways
Track 1: Direct Approbation
For nurses with B2 German or above. Full qualification recognition submitted to the relevant state authority. If no compensation measure is required, Approbation is granted and you begin as a fully registered nurse from day one.
Timeline: 3–6 months from application.
Track 2: Berufserlaubnis (Temporary Permit)
For nurses with A2–B1 German. Deploy sooner under a temporary work permit, working as a nurse aid or under supervision while language training continues. Once B2 is achieved and qualifications are fully recognised, you transition to full RN status and salary. Some employers fund language training.
Timeline to full RN status: 12–24 months.

Language assessment
German language assessment — B2 minimum for full Approbation.

Permanent right to practise nursing anywhere in Germany.
