Work in United States
Competitive salaries, employer-sponsored visas, and strong demand across nursing and allied health β the US market is now open to both registered nurses and AHP professionals through Prodesse. NCLEX is the gateway for nurses; ASCP or AMT certification for laboratory and diagnostic professionals.

NCLEX β the gateway to US nursing
The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is the mandatory licensing exam for all nurses wishing to practice in the United States. You must hold a current, valid NCLEX pass before Prodesse can progress your application.
- NCLEX pass required β no exceptions
- English proficiency demonstrated through NCLEX itself
- State nursing licence obtained via CGFNS VisaScreen
- EB-3 immigrant visa or H-1B work visa β employer sponsors
- Timeline typically 12β24 months offer to arrival
Prodesse is a placement agency, not a training provider. Our role begins once you are clinically ready and licensed β NCLEX is the US nursing licence examination and passing it is a prerequisite for employment, not part of our service. Candidates who have not yet passed NCLEX should complete their examination first and return to us once they hold their pass certificate. We are happy to advise on NCLEX preparation resources but we do not provide or fund NCLEX preparation.
Visa routes
The US healthcare visa landscape has two primary routes for internationally trained nurses. The EB-3 is an employment-based immigrant visa β it leads to permanent US residency (a Green Card) and is the most common route for internationally placed nurses. The H-1B is a non-immigrant specialty occupation visa valid for 3 years, extendable to 6, and can be a stepping stone to EB-3. Your Prodesse consultant will assess which route is most appropriate for your nationality, qualification, and timeline.
Retrogression
Retrogression refers to delays in the EB-3 Green Card queue caused by annual visa caps. Nationals of certain countries β particularly India, Philippines, China, and Mexico β face significantly longer waits, sometimes years. Most African and European nationals currently face much shorter timelines. This is one of the most important factors we assess before recommending the US pathway. See our full guide to EB-3 retrogression for what it means for your application.
Current EB-3 Visa Bulletin
The US State Department publishes updated cut-off dates monthly. These dates determine whether your priority date is current for EB-3 (Final Action Dates). C = Current β no backlog for that nationality.
Visa Bulletin temporarily unavailable β visit travel.state.gov for current cut-off dates.
Highest nursing salaries globally. Speciality nurses in high-cost-of-living states (California, New York) can earn $130,000β$145,000/year. The US market rewards ICU, ER, and theatre experience disproportionately.
